In many places in India marriages are conducted for over a period of two weeks where many rituals and ceremonies are conducted, during these days many relatives and friends gather to take part in the memorable ceremonies. The Indian marriage ceremonies are very elaborate and very much unique. The Indian marriage systems vary from place to place, according to their culture. Indian marriages are based on religious beliefs of the people; horoscope and muhurtams all are to be considered. Matching making is done by parents in an Indian marriage, Parents inform their relatives and friends that their son/daughter is ready for marriage and they look for various matches through them. They go through the family background and investigate about the individual from their neighborhood, educational places and work places. Lot of thinking and a long procedure is taken before they decide the life partner for their children. In Indian marriages people look for individuals with complementary horoscopes. Parents don’t just look at the individual but even various members of the family as they believe that by knowing the family they can understand their children. Hence there is extreme care taken by parents when they chose a partner for their children, they never believe someone other than themselves to do this part. By this we can understand the importance of an Indian marriage.
